Just 4,500 business strikes for 1869 and very few have survived, especially in high grade. This is a beautiful example with original surfaces that display frost on the design and delicate toning. The strike is exceptionally sharp and surfaces are semi proof-like.
Scarce in any grade with just 76,000 minted. This coin offers sharp design detail for the grade with just moderate wear across the central design on the obverse and sharp eagle feathers and shield on the reverse. The surfaces are problem-free with a pleasing light gray-tan patina.
A beautiful problem-free example of this scarce date. The detail is what you would expect for the grade and the surfaces are light gray and very choice which is seldom the case with 1869-S quarters.
