III Edge. One of several experimental edge designs the Mint tried in 1809. This is a very attractive coins with strong detail and problem-free light gray surfaces that retain some mint luster.
Overton 107. III Edge. Lustrous and well struck with a pleasing medium-gray patina, accented by a touch of russet toning in the protected areas.
Circle in 0. An interesting variety with the inner circle as clear as a bell! This is a sharply detailed coin with choice medium brown surfaces.
C-5. Actually a 9 over an inverted 9. This is a lovely example that is arguably mint state. The strike is sharp and the lustrous surfaces are an iridescent chocolate brown with no apparent ‘rub’ to be seen even with the aid of 5x magnification.
Small Date. Tall 5. Well struck with nearly full luster. The 100,287 mintage is tiny by modern standards, but was the largest for this early ‘type’.
Well detailed with pleasing original surfaces that retain a trace of mint luster.
