C-5. Actually a 9 over an inverted 9. This is a lovely example that is arguably mint state. The strike is sharp and the lustrous surfaces are an iridescent chocolate brown with no apparent ‘rub’ to be seen even with the aid of 5x magnification.
Small Date. Tall 5. Well struck with nearly full luster. The 100,287 mintage is tiny by modern standards, but was the largest for this early ‘type’.
Well detailed with pleasing original surfaces that retain a trace of mint luster.
Strong detail with medium gray surfaces and minor marks that are commensurate with the grade.
Overton-110. Small 8. Sharply struck with light golden toning and abundant underlying luster. Outstanding for the grade with just the barest touch of ‘rub’ separating this coin from a mint state holder!
Small 8. Well detailed with pleasing light gray surfaces.
