A very pleasing example of this scarce date with a sharp strike on an issue that often comes poorly struck. Most commonly found in the ‘AU’ grade range, coins at this grade level can be a challenge. Housed in an old green label holder.
CAC. Well struck with attractive original surfaces. The eye appeal is surprisingly strong as this date has the reputation of being the most poorly made in the series!
By far the lowest regular issue mintage in the series at 238,000. 1885 comes in a distant second with 1,472,700 minted. This is a sharply detailed coin with lustrous golden-gray surfaces and just a touch of wear on the high points of the design.
