Well struck with original yellow-gold surfaces that retain a fair amount of mint luster. A scarce Carson City Mint issue with a production of only 11,190 pieces.
A modest 13,886 pieces minted and the rarest Carson City ‘Five’ struck after 1878. This is a pleasing example with a strong strike and original surfaces that retain considerable mint luster.
Very attractive with strong detail and very choice original surfaces. Rare in any grade with a mintage of 13,886. Akers called this by far the rarest Carson City ‘Five’ minted after 1878 and in the same class as the 1871 to 1877 issue. This is also the only VF-35 to gain CAC approval.
Blast white and outstanding for the grade with heavy frost on the design that contrasts beautifully with ultra deep mirrored fields. The strike is razor-sharp and there are fewer marks than expected for the grade. Housed in an old green label holder.
A beautiful Gem with satiny luster and just minor marks consistent with the grade.
Blast white with ultra deep mirrored fields and heavy frost on the design. The cameo contrast is compelling!
Satiny yellow-gold luster and a sharp strike with fewer marks than you’d expect for the grade.
