R-7. Regular die trials striking in copper with a reeded edge. A scarce Civil War–era pattern, with reflective proof surfaces and sharp, well-defined devices. The fields exhibit rich brown coloration with subtle underlying luster, while the seated figure and wreath reverse are crisply rendered.
R-3. Regular issue dies with a plain edge, but struck in bronze rather than the regular issue copper-nickel. Thin planchet variety struck with medallic alignment.
