Extremely well struck for the date with just slight weakness to the hair on the obverse. The reverse, including the date, is well struck. Both sides are lustrous with choice surfaces that are devoid of significant abrasions. Just 3,477 minted and quite scarce, but fortunately a few nice examples have survived.
A modest 35,250 minted and scarce in any grade. This is an attractive example with sharp detail and choice lustrous surfaces.
A pleasing example of this scarce date which brought $2115 when it sold in a June, 2017 Heritage Sale. There catalog description read, “This collector-grade example shows above-average VF detail and smooth problem-free surfaces. Deep olive-green and golden-gray toning attests to the originality of each side”.
Fantastic quality and nearly blast white with just a very faint champagne hue. The design is heavily frosted and contrasts beautifully against the deep mirrored fields. The surfaces are exceptionally choice with no notable abrasions.
R-5. Longacre’s “French Head” obverse with Liberty facing right. A ribbon inscribed with LIBERTY drapes across her neck. HALF DOLLAR is within a wreath on the reverse. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is a very attractive example with a fair amount of mint red blending with iridescent lavender-brown and lime-green.
Vibrant satiny white luster and a sharp strike. Outstanding for the grade with attractive surfaces that display minimal marks and certainly fewer than are typically found on an MS-62.
Solid detail and pleasing light silver-gray surfaces.
Sharply struck with full detail visible in Liberty’s gown and the eagle’s feathers. The surfaces are fully original with strong mint luster and a satiny sheen, exhibiting light abrasions typical for an MS-60 coin.
Solid detail with pleasing natural coin-gray surfaces. Scarce in any grade with just 80,000 minted. Particularly rare in high grade as none have graded mint state at either service.
