R-7.  A transitional pattern with the reverse of 1866, which added IN GOD WE TRUST, paired with the regular issue 1865 obverse.  Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is a gorgeous example with choice brown surfaces highlighted by bright blue overtones.

A better Civil War–era Seated Liberty half dollar that offers pleasing, even light wear with solid remaining detail throughout Liberty’s figure and the reverse eagle. The surfaces are original and attractive, displaying a soft silver-gray patina with subtle deeper accents.
