CAC. S.S. Central America. 20A Spiked Shield. Here’s a Gem Type-1 “Twenty” from the S.S. Central America Shipwreck Hoard. It has the special PCGS gold foil label and comes with the elaborate faux book entitled, “America’s Greatest Treasure Ship”. The coin itself has rich orange-gold luster, a great strike and fabulous mint ‘bloom”.

The 14,250 coin mintage isn’t particularly low in a series full of low mintage dates. However, the survival rate was very low and the vast majority are VF and XF. The is an attractive AU with solid detail and pleasing surfaces.

CAC. This Gem example displays outstanding luster, a sharp strike, and smooth fields, with minimal contact marks and excellent preservation. While the obverse has a crisp white appearance, the reverse offers a silver-gray background with a light gold hue and a splash of turquoise toning.
