Green Reverse. W/Surcharge “M-2-6-5” and Letter “a”. Portrait of Secretary of the Treasury William P. Fressenden appointed by President Lincoln after Secretary Chase resigned in 1864. He only served 8 months in the position before resigning himself.

Surcharge “M-2-6-5”. Letter “a”. A key to the set, scarce in any grade and still exhibits a solid bronze overprint. The note has been tape repaired as visible on the reverse.

Dark Background. Well inked with bright premium paper and nice margins.
