An outstanding 1859 Proof Seated Quarter and one of the finest graded by PCGS. Both sides are crisply struck and beautifully detailed with mirrored fields that are deeply reflective. They have a glassy smoothness that contrasts boldly against the frosted design elements, yielding a classic cameo appearance and excellent eye appeal. Just 800 minted.
An attractive Type I Liberty Head double eagle. Strong detail remains throughout, with Liberty’s hair and the reverse shield and eagle well defined. The surfaces show warm, original gold color with light circulation and a trace of underlying mint luster.
Beautiful yellow-gold luster flows across sharply struck surfaces with only trivial abrasions. Just 15,558 minted which, amazingly, ranks as the ninth highest mintage for the $3 Princess. A choice and desirable example in a tough and desirable series!
