A simply splendid early ‘Martha’ that looks newly printed. Vivid inks blend with premium brilliant white paper. A more than ample and well balanced border provides an excellent frame. The back displays the early ornate design. Only 3 notes have graded finer at PMG.

Small Red Plain Seal. With a superior grade, this 1886 $1 Martha Washington represents the first Friedberg number in the series. Vivid inks highlight both the obverse and reverse. PCGS Banknote has reported only 3 in this grade with just 1 finer, and assigned it the PPQ designation for complete paper originality.

Smooth silver-gray surfaces with soft mint luster and pleasing overall eye appeal. Well-defined details are evident in Liberty’s portrait and the reverse wreath surrounding the Roman numeral V. A scarce date Liberty Nickel that remains difficult to locate in attractive Mint State condition.
