CSA Block Letters watermarked. Fully margined with good color and bright orange underprint. John C. Calhoun, right, was considered the intellectual father of the Confederacy. Other vignettes include slaves hoeing cotton and a maiden left. Reverse has the issued stamp dated 18 Nov. 1862, Savannah, as well as two interest paid stamps in Augusta.

State of Georgia. Well centered with solid black ink and an orange protector. A state seal stamp can be found on the center right and left.

This note displays an allegorical vignette of the South striking down the North and a portrait of Judah P. Benjamin, Secretary of War and later Secretary of State for the Confederacy. Typical tight margins surround strong black ink and bright premium paper.

A beautiful example of this early Legal Deuce displays unusually vibrant color that contrasts nicely with its bright premium paper. Only lightly handled and with a well deserved ‘EPQ’ designation that is not often seen in this series.
