Octagonal Indian Head. R-4. Well struck and very attractive with flashy surfaces.
A better date as a business strike and a proof with just 950 proofs minted. This is an attractive coin with a needle-sharp strike and reflective brick-red surfaces that have a subtle lime hue.
CAC. Over 11 million first year 1865 dated coins were struck, but by 1872 the production had fallen to 862,000. This is an exceptionally nice coin for the grade that satiny brilliant luster and a sharp strike.
