A pleasing and problem-free example of this semi-key date.
Original and lustrous nickel-gray surfaces with sharp detail and just a touch of ‘rub’.
Nearly VF detail with all letters in LIBERTY clearly evident. Old ‘green label’ holder.
Iridescent lavender and red hues blend with olive brown. Old green label holder.
The second lowest mintage in the series behind the ’11-D with 240,000 struck. However; NGC has graded 54 1914’s as MS-65 and 5 finer while they have graded 80 MS-65 1911-D’s and 6 finer. This is a lovely example with rich satiny luster and a sharp strike.
