Octagonal Liberty Head. R-4. Sharply struck and very flashy with semi proof-like surfaces.
Well detailed with a nice full LIBERTY and attractive medium brown surfaces.
CAC. Over 11 million first year 1865 dated coins were struck, but by 1872 the production had fallen to 862,000. This is an exceptionally nice coin for the grade that satiny brilliant luster and a sharp strike.
A Gem quality example of this better date, boasting lustrous original surfaces, a remarkably crisp strike, and beautiful clean fields.
High R-7. Regular die trial for the 1872 Seated Liberty Dime. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This example shows reflective surfaces beneath a deep chocolate-brown patina with lighter highlights over the devices. Very scarce with just 3 or 4 known.
CAC. A robust 6,036,000 minted yet this is a very tough date in high grade, and this is a beautiful example. The surfaces are nearly pristine with vibrant mint luster and the strike is extremely sharp.
