R-7. Similar to the regular issue Shield Nickel without the ornamental ball at the base of the shield. Stuck in copper with a plain edge. This is well struck and mark-free example with faded red blending with iridescent blue-brown toning.
Vibrant silver-white lustrous surfaces with heavy frost on the design. The strike is needle-sharp and there are only a few very trivial marks. A scarce date with a mintage of just 4,400. This is the only 66+ graded by PCGS with just 4 finer.

Light nickel-white surfaces are clean and well-preserved, with no distracting marks.
CAC. A beautiful proof displaying bold detail in the intricate shield, cross, and surrounding foliage on the obverse, with reflective mirrored fields. The reverse numeral “5” and surrounding stars are sharply defined, with deeply mirrored fields and a crisp, undisturbed appearance. Both sides show lovely originality and pristine preservation, free from significant marks or spots.
