A mere 44,200 ‘No Arrows’ quarters were minted in 1853 before the ‘Arrow & Rays’ design was introduced to signify a reduction in silver content. The earlier ‘type’ saw heavy melting and few from the already small ‘No Arrows’ production have survived. This is a beautifully preserved example offering the look and sharpness of a Mint State coin. Lustrous brilliant surfaces show excellent originality with only the lightest trace of high-point friction. Well-struck, attractive, and high-end for the grade!
