This scarce and historically important San Francisco–mint issue, from the early years of California gold coinage,  displays rich, original gold color with satiny mint luster flowing through the fields and devices. Liberty’s portrait is well defined, with bold hair detail and crisp stars, while the reverse eagle and shield show strong central definition. Light abrasions and scattered contact marks are present, consistent with the MS61 grade, yet the overall eye appeal remains very pleasing.
