CAC. An incredible piece of Confederate history. Robert Lovett engraved and struck Confederate Cents in 1861 of which 13-16 are known. He then sold the dies to John Haseltine and J. Colvin Randall who struck 55 copper coins before the dies broke. This is one of the better surviving examples with glossy brown and mahogany surfaces with underlying reddish highlights. Sharply struck with excellent detail in Liberty’s hair and the wreath, it stands as a premium representative of this enigmatic issue.
