R-7. A richly colored and highly desirable copper pattern featuring the seated Liberty obverse paired with a bold “SIL. NIC. COP.” reverse, representing an experimental composition of silver, nickel, and copper. The surfaces display vibrant original red color with reflective fields and sharply struck design elements throughout. The center of both sides shows a bright golden circle which is a result of that alloy mix. The coin is well preserved and offers strong eye appeal, with smooth mirrored fields and crisp detail in Liberty’s drapery and shield, as well as fully defined reverse lettering. From the King Farouck “Palace Collection”, sold by Sotheby’s in February of 1954.
