A beautiful Gem example of this better date from the San Francisco Mint. This coin exhibits frosty cartwheel luster across its surfaces, with Liberty’s portrait and the eagle sharply struck. 1898-S is scarcer in Gem condition than its mintage suggests, with relatively few coins surviving in top grades. This example is well preserved, showing only minimal contact marks and excellent overall eye appeal.
