The iconic Black Eagle on a pedestal holding the American flag with the portrait busts of Lincoln and Grant below. The Mule variant is the byproduct of the intermingling of a new face plate with that of an old back plate during the transition printing period. In this case the back check number 5937 is located below the ornate circular design in the center instead of off to the far right. A crisp note with balanced margins and exceptional color.
