The 1923-S nickel is a conditionally scarce San Francisco issue that becomes increasingly difficult to locate in the higher states of preservation. This impressive MS65 example displays rich satiny luster accented by original golden-gray toning across both sides. The strike is notably strong for the issue, with bold detail evident in the Indian’s braid and the buffalo’s head and shoulder. Fresh carefully preserved surfaces and excellent overall eye appeal make this an especially desirable example.
