While they carry the 1929 date, Federal Reserve Bank Notes were actually rushed into circulation during the 1933 banking crisis to combat mass public hoarding of cash. Overprinted using existing Series 1929 National Bank Note paper stock, they feature a brown Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes were backed by the issuing Federal Reserve Bank branch instead of the Federal Reserve System as a whole. Only 7 of the Federal Reserve branches actually issue $100 denominational bills. This note has fresh crisp paper and nice color.
