A lovely example of this very clear overdate. The underlying 1 sits boldly beneath the primary 2 in the date. The surfaces are choice and original. They’re a pleasing light coin-gray with some darker gray toning at the bottom of the obverse. The design features are bold and minimal marks are insignificant and well hidden.
Small Stars Reverse. A highly attractive early U.S. gold issue. The obverse displays a bold Liberty portrait with strong remaining detail in the hair and cap, complemented by pleasing original surfaces. Rich, warm golden coloration remains throughout, with considerable mint luster on both sides. The reverse features the distinctive Small Stars arrangement above the eagle, […]
Large 3. A pleasing, problem-free example of the final-year Draped Bust dollar. Both sides retain strong, well-defined devices and the surfaces exhibit a medium-gray patina with darker steel and charcoal highlights, lending the coin an attractive, original appearance. Minor scattered marks are typical for the issue and do not detract from overall eye appeal.
Small Date, Small Fraction. S-252. Honest circulation wear is evident, yet the major design elements remain visible, with Liberty’s portrait and reverse wreath clearly outlined. The surfaces are smooth and original, displaying a rich, even chocolate-brown patina.
Small 8. A handsome and historically important 1804 Small 8 Half Eagle. This attractive example retains strong original luster beneath light high-point rub, with well-defined curls, stars, and bold LIBERTY on the obverse. The reverse eagle is sharply rendered, with clear feather detail, a crisp shield, and bold legends throughout. The surfaces display a rich, […]
C-13. Plain 4, No Stems. Strong detail with just a touch of high point rub. Cleaned years ago, but has now toned back to a natural chocolate brown appearance.
Spiked Chin. Cohen-8. The last marriage of the Spiked Chin obverse following Cohen-5, 6, and 7. This is a late die state of this durable die. A ‘Spike’ extends from Liberty’s chin, a ‘tongue’ appears to stick out between her lips, and curved die lines are seen in the field opposite her neck. This is […]
4 Berries. A beautiful near-Gem that is well-struck and sharply detailed. The coin displays Liberty’s flowing hair and drapery with excellent clarity, while the reverse eagle and shield are fully defined. Attractive original surfaces show rich gray patina with hints of underlying luster that shimmer beneath the toning. The strike is notably strong for the […]
A beautiful example of this early Federal silver issue, offering strong overall detail with light, even wear across the high points. Liberty’s hair retains clear definition, while the reverse eagle and shield remain bold and well-articulated. The surfaces display an attractive, original medium-gray patina with subtle deeper accents in the protected areas, enhancing the coin’s […]
