A scarce early American copper token attributed to circa 1785, struck during the formative post-Colonial period when unofficial coppers circulated widely in commerce. The obverse features the bold intertwined USA monogram, sharply rendered and well centered, with pleasing medium-brown copper surfaces accented by lighter highlights on the highest points. The lettering remains crisp, reflecting only light, even wear consistent with the AU55 grade. The reverse displays the distinctive parallel bar motif, evenly struck with strong definition across the fields. Subtle friction is limited to the highest ridges, while much of the original surface character is retained. The edges show uniform reeding, and the overall presentation is clean and problem-free.
