Arrows. A spectacular Premium Gem survivor of this important New Orleans issue. The “Arrows at Date” subtype was struck only in 1854 and 1855, signifying the slight weight increase mandated by the Coinage Act of 1853. This piece offers brilliant silver-white luster across frosty surfaces, with a satiny cartwheel sheen radiating strongly on both obverse and reverse. The strike is sharp for an O-Mint half dollar, with Liberty’s gown folds and the eagle’s wing and shield detail clearly defined. Surfaces are remarkably clean, virtually free from noticeable marks, placing this coin in the top echelon of survivors.
